Corsair Cove is an upcoming city builder set during the closing days of the Golden Age of Piracy. You start stranded on a deserted island with the wreckage of your ship and surviving crew. Your objective is to build and grow a pirate haven amidst cliffs and scarce flat land, managing production chains and defending against the Crown’s pirate hunters.

Establishing Your Pirate Haven

You begin by using pirate engineering to build on cliffsides and hilltops without conventional constraints. Your island evolves from a humble refuge to a formidable fortress. Construct essential buildings such as living quarters, taverns, piers, cannon foundries, and defensive fortifications. Every inch of flat surface, whether horizontal or vertical, must be utilized to expand your capabilities.

Efficient transportation systems are crucial. Bridges, ziplines, and various contraptions help move raw materials to production sites and finished goods to distribution hubs. Managing these pathways across the island’s rugged terrain is vital to your survival and growth.

Managing Resources and Population Needs

Your influence spreads across the island to access resource deposits like iron, copper, lumber, and fiber. As your population grows, so do their needs. Pirates require not only bread and booze but also finer goods to stay loyal. Different population classes—from drifters and builders to specialized workers—each have unique demands.

At sea, ships range from small vessels to powerful armadas that require advanced equipment and specialist crews. These crews need items such as spyglasses, medicine, sabers, tobacco, pistols, and eye-patches. You will manage over 50 types of goods, including varied food, clothing, prosthetics, weapons, and bottles of booze.

Exploring and Combat on the High Seas

Your pirate society must venture beyond the island to raid nearby islands for resources unavailable locally, such as grain, whale blubber, silver, and wine. Building ships and hiring captains and crew lets you explore uncharted waters filled with opportunities and threats.

Engage in unique events across the archipelago, like aiding smugglers, seeking hidden treasures, and attacking enemy forts and fleets. Combat involves turn-based ship battles where your choice of ship, crew, and captain, combined with tactical skill, determines the outcome. Defensive fortifications on your island provide last-line protection by firing cannons at approaching enemy ships, supplied with cannonballs and black powder.

Progression and Questing

Corsair Cove offers freedom to pursue gameplay at your own pace through four main development dimensions: Notoriety, Empire, Seafaring, and Wealth. Advancing in these areas unlocks new buildings, production chains, and more powerful ships.

You can chase upgrades such as the Entertainers’ Guildhall to boost productivity or ziplines to speed up pirate routes. Unique questlines challenge you to defeat the Crown by confronting legendary beasts and strongholds, requiring careful preparation and tactical combat.
